The DLRG is the world’s largest water rescue organization and saves people from drowning. Its tasks include swimming and lifeguard training, education about water hazards, and water rescue services.

Only through donations can the DLRG save hundreds of people from drowning across Germany every year. The donated funds are primarily used to finance special equipment, boats, and the initial and ongoing training of the rescuers. The active members of the DLRG work on a voluntary basis.

The Wertheim-based company Wilhelm König Maschinenbau GmbH has made it its mission to support and promote the local DLRG Wertheim group and its emergency response team with donations.

The DLRG Wertheim was founded in 1953 and has approximately 500 members. In addition to water rescue, youth work and training are two other important pillars of the club. Within the water rescue service, there is a diving and a boat squad, a rescue dog troop, and the organization is involved in local emergency response and civil protection. A major field of activity in the summer is also lifeguard duty at the outdoor swimming pool.

The first major project of the cooperation between the company König and the DLRG was the financing of heavy-duty protective clothing for the emergency response team, which was urgently needed. The company König supported this acquisition with €4,500 back in December of last year. After a few delivery bottlenecks, the clothing is now complete and was presented to Managing Director Horst König in front of the company building. Chairman Andreas Hoffmann mentioned that the group is financed almost exclusively through donations and membership fees. Only with donations of this kind is it possible to provide current and safe equipment for the voluntary emergency forces.
